Kristen Kieffer
Kristen Kieffer's work appeals to me for many reasons. Not only do I find her work aesthetically pleasing because of the clean lines and tightness in every piece, but also her artist statement appeals to me.
At the end of her artist statement s
he says, "Form, function and ornamentation are of equal importance to me as a potter. My hope is that the forms will invite closer inspection revealing the surfaces, which in turn entice the viewer to want to hold and use them." I feel this is something that I also would like to incorporate into my work as well as in my artist statement.
The way in which she approaches her surfaces also appeals to me. Everything is tight and clean. The way she uses simple forms and designs that come together a solid piece. Also her colors in which she choses flow together. I would like to produces pieces like this with similarities, so you can tell they are meant for one series but so each individual piece differs.

These 3 pitchers forms I really enjoy. The flowing forms and clean and sleekness they have are something I would like to see in my own work.
It is so sad that Tom died. He made some strong work! Three different clays .. sweet pitchers! Darting and fancy foot work.
