Louise Shye: Utilitarian 465 1st Quarter (5 sets)

Margaret Bohls
the sets that are shown here are very elegant with careful use of color and details. the pattern of leaves is carved in each diamond. I have not mad a teapot yet, and I''m very interested in doing so and doing additive/ reductive work as well as using leather work tools much like I did last quarter. As for the pattern, I am still interested in doing the Paisley pattern much like the western bandanna. However instead of having the pattern all over the pieces, the pattern would be in select areas to give it more simplicity.

Patti Warashina
her trays remind me of a circus with crazy colors, shapes, and figures. All of the figures are disproportionate to one another, and the themes are much like a whacked out dream. this is definitely not a style I would pick up, not even if it was a whacked out dream of western.

Kathryn Finnerty
her work is like the old wallpaper in a kitchen. the colors used for these pieces are very feminine. I especially like the salt and pepper pieces. I would like to make a Salt and pepper set as well, I would like to hand build a lot of my pieces this quarter especially since I want have more edges to my pieces rather than it being round and thrown. However I will still throw some things.

Tom Rohr
Very simplicity pieces he has. There is not much details or carved areas in any of his work. However, Simplicity does sometimes catch the eye and people prefer that because they can relate to it more. When I made my lidded jars I did a lot of details, I want to be able to do half of the details and a little more simplicity into my work.

Molly Hatch
For her teacups, she has holders for them which is very unique for a set, I know a lot of people who have teacup sets, but they are kept in a case of some sort. Having them on the wall gives it a great advantage for storing.
